When we saw FluidFury Interactive’s game, we really thought of Ghostrunner, and maybe not coincidentally, since the genre is quite similar.
Immerse yourself in the dystopian world of Quantic River, where frenetic action meets engrossing exploration. Master katana combat, unlock cybernetics, slash through environments, hack through obstacles, and explore dual-layered levels for speedrunners and explorers. The Katana combat system offers fast and precise melee combat focused on parries, counterattacks, and fluid chains. Combat is all about timing, reflexes, and control. Many elements in the environment can be sliced or destroyed. These interactions enhance both gameplay and immersion, creating real-time tactical opportunities.
Unlock upgrades to improve combat, hacking, or mobility. Activate quantum anomalies to slow down time through an overheating system, ideal for changing the pace of combat. Take control of security cameras to remotely observe, interact with, or manipulate the environment. Disable defenses, open pathways, and use hacking to access alternate routes through the two-tiered structure of each level.
The 2.5D cyberpunk action game looks to be a fast and furious game and is currently planned for PC only, where it will be available on all major platforms (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store). There’s no word on a console release. Crowdfunding will be used by FluidFury Interactive, as they will soon launch a Kickstarter campaign for the game, which might be able to reach PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and possibly Nintendo Switch 2 with a stretch goal (plus money). Ghostrunner (and its sequel) has the edge, as that IP is multiplatform, but it’s very similar to Quantic River in terms of style.
There’s no release date for Quantic River yet, but it will probably be out within a year, but that’s anyone’s guess. Maybe it drops in 2025. Maybe it won’t.
