Pamela Anderson Struggled to Keep a Straight Face in The Naked Gun

MOVIE NEWS – Comedy is serious business, says the actress, especially when working alongside Liam Neeson

Pamela Anderson is being hailed as a major comeback star after proving her dramatic talent in The Last Showgirl, a performance that earned her a Golden Globe nomination. Now, the former Baywatch icon is switching gears to comedy, playing the femme fatale alongside Liam Neeson in the reboot of the classic spoof franchise The Naked Gun.

Anderson told Entertainment Weekly that crafting a character for a wild comedy was just as demanding as preparing for a dramatic role like her aging showgirl: “This was cathartic too, because every film explores something buried deep, and we have to bring that out using unusual tools.”

In the film, she plays a woman named Beth who turns to Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. (Liam Neeson) after her brother is murdered. According to Anderson, the hardest part of filming was maintaining the deadpan delivery required by The Naked Gun’s signature style. “Liam and I kept cracking up—it was really hard to stay composed. But the only way to pull it off is to take it completely seriously. No goofing around. Comedy is for the audience. We have to be in the moment, and that’s tough work.”

The Naked Gun is set to release in Hungary on August 7, 2025.
