There were whispers earlier suggesting the device might be just 8.4 mm thick when folded, an engineering feat that seemed to defy physics. Now, trusted source Ice Universe claims the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will measure just 3.9 mm when open and 8.9 mm when shut. For comparison, the current record-holder for thinnest foldable is the Oppo Find N5, which is 8.93 mm thick closed. If these figures hold true, Samsung might dethrone Oppo with its latest device.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to be unveiled at the upcoming Unpacked event in July, aligning with Samsung’s previous foldable release timelines. The device is rumored to feature a sleeker form factor, be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, and include a 200 MP main camera. However, none of this has been officially confirmed yet.
