“We’ve been quietly working on it”—CD Projekt refuses to let Cyberpunk 2077 fade, pulling back the curtain on a major new update. The sci-fi RPG is set to get its 2.3 patch in June, promising fresh fixes and content just when players thought Night City had finally gone quiet.
The saga of Cyberpunk 2077 is legendary: CD Projekt’s ambitious RPG famously crashed and burned at launch in 2020, saddled with bugs and broken promises. Since then, the Polish team has put their hearts into patching, expanding, and surprising fans with unexpected updates—determined to turn things around. Many believed the creators of The Witcher 3 had shifted their focus to brand-new projects, but the reality is that part of the team was secretly working on the next evolution: version 2.3.
This news comes straight from Marcin Momot, global community director at CD Projekt RED, whose post on X set the Cyberpunk community buzzing. “We’re not finished! More details on the next Cyberpunk 2077 update are coming later this month,” he announced. “As we get closer to patch 2.3, we’ll start sharing what’s new, but for now, please be patient. Let the devs do their magic!”
We also know that Paweł Sasko, associate director on the next Cyberpunk game, is deeply involved. “Yes, Cyberpunk 2077 version 2.3 is on the way—we’ve been quietly developing it for some time,” he wrote in another post. “I’m personally overseeing this update as always, and I’ll share full details when we’re ready.” That means players have a fresh excuse to return to Night City’s neon-drenched streets in just a matter of days.
Cyberpunk 2 in the Works—A Broken Chicago Awaits
Meanwhile, other teams at CD Projekt RED are forging ahead with plans to expand the universe, working on the highly anticipated sequel. For now, the devs refer to it simply as Cyberpunk 2—a placeholder, not the final name—and the game is in early pre-production. Leaked info hints that players will get to explore a whole new city, described as a “broken Chicago.” Still, it’s clear this adventure has a long road ahead, and although CD Projekt stresses that every development is unique, it will be years before this project is ready for launch.
