PlayStation has just dropped a brand-new trailer announcing a piece of hardware that marks a real milestone for the brand. Even though the PlayStation 5 is well into its life cycle, there are still some genuine surprises left before we get to see what the PlayStation 6 will bring.
During the pre-Summer Game Fest State Of Play showcase, Sony announced Project Defiant, the company’s first-ever arcade fight stick built specifically by PlayStation. Details are still scarce, but a short teaser video revealed a premium-looking device that’s designed for hardcore fighting game fans and works with both PlayStation 5 and PC.
As stated on the PlayStation Blog: “Today, we are excited to unveil the first wireless fight stick designed by Sony Interactive Entertainment, codenamed Project Defiant.”
The announcement goes on to add: “This sleek new controller will give players more flexibility to play their favorite fighting games, whether that is wirelessly with the innovative PlayStation Link technology that provides ultra-low latency, or through a wired connection on PS5 or PC.”
Key features include ultra-low latency wireless connectivity, a sturdy build quality, and a stylish carrying case—perfect for showing off before you take down your friends in Street Fighter.
Project Defiant is currently scheduled to launch in 2026, and it will be given an official name closer to release. Stay tuned for more updates.
