10 years of feedback are finally being heard: Dying Light: The Beast will feature full co-op for four players with shared progression. Techland confirms that every achievement will count for everyone this time.
It’s summer, but this one feels different. Maybe because of GTA 6’s delay, maybe not—but titles like Death Stranding 2 and Dying Light: The Beast are making it one to remember. The latter marks a two-year return of the series, and Techland is going all in with a denser open world and revamped co-op for four players.
Techland shared the major news on social media: the beloved co-op mode is back, now with full shared progression. Four players can go through missions, fights, and cutscenes together—and this time, everything they achieve will count equally. Progress is saved across the board, finally solving one of the most criticized issues of the series.
In the previous games, only the host’s campaign made progress, which meant joining players lost their advancement when returning to their own save. That limitation is now gone for good.
Dying Light: The Beast – The Hybrid Hero Returns
Originally planned as DLC for Dying Light 2: Stay Human, The Beast evolved into a standalone title as its narrative expanded. Instead of a new protagonist, the story brings back fan-favorite Crane, who’s now a hybrid of human and infected. With this comes immense power—and the danger of losing control.
The game is set in Castor Woods, a mountainous region inspired by the Swiss Alps, featuring industrial zones, swamps, and varied biomes. Day and night cycles are still crucial: by day, players explore and scavenge; by night, horror takes over with deadlier and more aggressive monsters.
After two games and three years, Techland admits: “We’re giving players the weapons they’ve been begging for.”
Dying Light: The Beast launches on August 22, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5 (including Pro), and Xbox Series X|S. Players who own the Dying Light 2 Ultimate Edition will receive the game for free as a thank-you from Techland.
