If you’re paralyzed by grotesque monsters, this game isn’t for you. But beware, because the enemies in Cronos: The New Dawn will be more than just aberrations. Bloober Team delves into its horror title and its monsters’ ability to tear each other apart and merge with each other.
Bloober Team is on a roll. The developers surprised everyone with an excellent Silent Hill 2 Remake, and Konami was so happy with the result that they’ve now commissioned another remake, this time of the legendary original Silent Hill. As if that weren’t enough, the team is also developing an original project, Cronos: The New Dawn, which has already sent chills down our spines during several presentations. Now, the studio has revealed new details of its horror game, emphasizing that its creatures aren’t only hideous, but strategically challenging too.
“Don’t let them merge,” teased Bloober Team in one of Cronos’ trailers, indicating that the monsters can fuse together or absorb corpses to become even more terrifying. A recent YouTube video about combat mechanics explained further, showing that players will have to carefully and quickly strategize their moves to prevent creatures from merging.
Bloober Team designed Cronos to ensure players pay close attention to their surroundings. The protagonist will need diverse tactics to keep creatures separated, either by luring one away or disrupting their fusion. Thus, players must be mindful not only of combat but also of their positioning, as monsters absorbing corpses can significantly escalate difficulty.
Cronos: The New Dawn reiterates its release window
Although many players are eager to dive into Cronos: The New Dawn immediately, the game still lacks a precise release date. However, Bloober Team reiterated its commitment at the Xbox Games Showcase, confirming a 2025 launch window. Hopefully, a specific date will soon follow.
