Reports claim the release date for the newest entry in the Grand Theft Auto franchise is now effectively locked, meaning no further delay is currently planned.
Several major games have already launched in 2026, including Crimson Desert, Resident Evil Requiem, and Marathon, but the biggest release of the year, and arguably the biggest event the games industry has seen in years, is still ahead of us. Everyone is still waiting for Grand Theft Auto VI to arrive later this year on its previously announced November 19 date. The problem is that in April there is still plenty of time left for things to go wrong for Take-Two and Rockstar, and the possibility of another slip remains an everyday concern. According to a fresh claim from the GTAVI O’Clock podcast, however, the November 19 date is not moving, and no additional delay is expected to be announced.
Host James Jarvis said that while the possibility of another delay obviously still exists, the information he has heard makes him fairly confident that it is not going to happen. Even if this remains a rumor for now, it is at least a positive sign that a long-running and generally reliable source is saying the game is still on track for the date many players have already circled in their calendars.
Release dates can always change, of course. It would not be especially shocking if the sources speaking to GTAVI O’Clock later changed tune and suggested another delay really was coming. Right now, though, that is not the message. So for the moment, the more optimistic scenario survives, along with the hope that this Christmas season really will be spent playing Grand Theft Auto VI.
Grand Theft Auto VI is currently set to launch on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. What remains unknown is when the PC version will show up. Given Rockstar’s history, it would not be shocking if that port did not appear until 2028.
