[SOP 2026] Dune: Awakening – Console Players Enter Arrakis in September [VIDEO]

Funcom has announced that Dune: Awakening will launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on September 22, while also coming to Game Pass and the Microsoft Store for PC on the same day. The console release includes the PC updates, full single-player support, the complete Book One story, and a 60 fps performance target.

Dune: Awakening will finally reach consoles on September 22, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions launching together. Funcom’s survival game has been available on PC via Steam since June 10, 2025, but the console edition is not being treated as a late bare port. The studio says the past year of PC content, improvements, and the September additions will combine into the most complete version of Arrakis so far.

The user interface and controls are being optimized for console, with a 60 fps target in Performance Mode on both platforms. In this kind of game, that is not a throwaway technical line, because sandstorms, combat, vehicles, harvesting, base building, and escape routes all need to feel manageable in the player’s hands. The PlayStation 5 gameplay shown during State of Play at least gives the console version something concrete beyond a platform promise.

The September release also brings full single-player support. The entire game can be played alone, with scalable difficulty and broad customization. Harvesting rates, experience gain, and combat challenge can all be tuned, which matters for players who want the world of Dune without constant online pressure. The Book One storyline will also be complete, giving the narrative side a proper arc instead of leaving it open.

Multiplayer is changing as well. PvP will become optional, so the full game can be played as a PvE experience, including the Deep Desert and participation in the faction conflict. Funcom is also adding a rebuilt late-game loop, vehicle backup tools, base reconstruction, self-hosted PC servers, new content, and many quality-of-life updates. The game is Steam Deck verified, playable through GeForce Now, and will support Xbox Cloud Gaming and the ROG Xbox Ally.

Dune: Awakening will enter Xbox Game Pass on September 22 with Xbox Play Anywhere support, cross-play between Xbox and Microsoft Store players, and shared progress. Arrakis is therefore no longer only a PC proposition. On console, the same survival logic remains: water, sand, factions, bases, loss control, and a world that never lets the player breathe too easily.
