Although the newest entry is also being developed for Nintendo hardware, a collection will bring the previous games to the Big N’s platform too.
Although most of the Nintendo Direct broadcast was filled with ports of games already released on other platforms, with only a few new titles and DLC among them, the stream ended with two major announcements. One was the anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake, which we have already covered in today’s news, and the other was a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts IV after years of silence. Alongside it came the announcement that the rest of the series will also appear on Nintendo Switch 2 in a substantial collection release. Kingdom Hearts IV was first announced in 2022, and since then we have barely heard anything official about the game. Last September, there were a few pieces of concept art and a Square Enix comment saying that development was progressing according to plan – and that was it.
We received no indication of a release date, but we did get confirmation that the game will also launch on Nintendo Switch 2 from the start, in addition to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. What we do already have, however, is the release date for the major Kingdom Hearts collection coming to Nintendo Switch 2. A demo is already available on Switch 2. The demo begins at the start of the game, then later jumps to the middle. As for the collection’s contents, Square Enix has not left anything out, so players can enjoy the following:
