[ND 2026] The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake: Link’s High Point on Switch 2! [VIDEO]

The two Nintendo 64 The Legend of Zelda games may have been the franchise’s peak – and one of them is truly getting a remake on Switch 2.

As the rumors had suggested, Nintendo really did reveal at the Nintendo Direct what Nintendo Switch 2 owners had been waiting for: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake is real, and it will be released worldwide in a few months, although with a certain Rockstar Games/Take-Two pairing and something called Grand Theft Auto VI, one never knows when a delay to 2027 might be announced.

The announcement video confirmed that players will be able to dive back into Link’s most iconic adventure in Hyrule later this year. As the embedded video below suggests, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake has been developed from the ground up to distinguish it even more clearly from the Nintendo 3DS remake, and it is expected to be one of the brightest stars in a year packed with excellent Nintendo Switch 2 titles. This also signals a certain lack of creativity, since Star Fox 64 similarly appeared on 3DS and will also receive a Switch 2 remake.

Since the game’s official release window is 2026 according to the announcement, the lack of information about The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake is no cause for concern. Given that the series’ 40th anniversary is in September, there is a good chance Nintendo held back further details so it can hold a huge, full-scale showcase before the game’s launch, probably in October, thereby avoiding landing too close to Grand Theft Auto VI, even though the audiences of the two franchises do not really overlap.

After all that, we have just one short question: seeing that nothing has yet been announced for the other Nintendo 64 game, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, when will Nintendo get around to that one as well?
