MOVIE NEWS – Paramount Pictures has released the first official images from Heart of the Beast, the survival thriller in which Brad Pitt plays a downed elite soldier stranded in the wilderness with only his loyal combat dog Odin by his side.
Paramount Pictures has released the first official images from its survival thriller Heart of the Beast. The film is directed by David Ayer, who previously worked with Brad Pitt to strong effect on the 2014 war epic Fury, while the screenplay is written by Cameron Alexander, a writer regarded in Hollywood as a major promise.
The story centers on James Belmont (Brad Pitt), an elite soldier whose plane crashes over Alaska, leaving him stranded in a harsh and empty wilderness. His only companion in the fight for survival is his loyal combat dog, Odin. The name is probably no accident, given that Odin is the chief god of Norse mythology.
The film explores the close bond between the two as they battle the merciless elements and the wild animals that come after them. Within the survival thriller framework, Heart of the Beast appears to place strong emphasis not only on physical endurance, but also on the connection between a man and an animal pushed to the edge together.
One of the producers of Heart of the Beast is Oscar winner Damien Chazelle, known for La La Land, Whiplash and Babylon. Alongside Brad Pitt, the film also features heavyweight performers including Oscar-winning actor J.K. Simmons, also known from Whiplash, and Anna Lambe, familiar to many viewers from the series True Detective.
