A new month brings another set of games for subscribers, as the Monthly Games lineup is available to every PlayStation Plus member from Essential upward.
The calendar has worked out strangely once again, as Sony only revealed the new games on the first day of July. The July Monthly Games package is available to Essential, Extra, and Premium members alike, regardless of the separate Game Catalog additions that Extra and Premium subscribers receive later.
There was no leak before the official announcement this time. Billbil-kun has accurately revealed PlayStation Plus games ahead of Sony on several occasions, sometimes days before the announcement, but this month players had to wait for Sony’s official reveal.
July’s headliner is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Cross-Gen Bundle for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. The 2023 shooter continues the story of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, while its multiplayer mode brings back the sixteen launch maps from 2009’s Modern Warfare 2 in upgraded form. Zombies also places squads in a huge open area where survival is the objective.
The second game is For the King II for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. This tactical turn-based RPG lets players venture through Fahrul alone or with a four-player co-op party to stop Queen Rosomon, who has forced her own people into the mines while building alliances with dark forces.
The third title is the indie pick, CrossCode for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. The retro-inspired action RPG combines 16-bit-style visuals with fast combat, skill-based and logic-driven puzzles, and a science-fiction story, making it much more than a nostalgic pixel-art role-playing game.
All three games can be added to players’ libraries from July 7 through August 3. The selection may differ by region, so it is worth checking PlayStation Store on release day as well.
June’s Monthly Games lineup featured Grounded Fully Yoked Edition, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. Obsidian’s survival game was available for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, Nickelodeon’s fighting game also arrived on both platforms, while Darktide could only be added on PlayStation 5.
EA Sports FC 26 also remained available to add until June 16, and eligible PlayStation Plus members could redeem a separate Icons Pack add-on for the game. June’s Monthly Games remain available until July 6, after which the trio of Modern Warfare III, For the King II, and CrossCode takes over completely.
