PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium: The Lackluster July Lineup

As usual, Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced which games will be available to those who pay more than the minimum for the service.

Following Microsoft’s lead, Sony will not make the games available all at once, but rather with a few days’ delay. According to Gematsu, all titles will be available in every region on July 21. However, Sony has listed July 28 for some titles, so the full list will likely arrive on that day. But why get bogged down in the details if the list is really that meager anyway?

In the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, Rise of the Ronin (PlayStation 5) will be available on July 15 in the United States and the United Kingdom and on July 16 in Japan. On July 21, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora (PlayStation 5) and Firefighting Simulator: Ignite (PlayStation 5) will be added to the lineup worldwide. Then, on July 28, three titles will be released in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan: Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector (PlayStation 5), Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4), and Snow Bros.: Wonderland (PlayStation 5).

Sony has really gone all out this time, as the PlayStation Plus Classics Catalog (available only to PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers) will feature not one but two games this month. Both are PS2 titles and will be available starting July 21. Sony had already announced one of them earlier: It’s Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy (PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4). The other title is Indigo Prophecy (PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4), though this David Cage game is better known around here as Fahrenheit.

That makes a total of eight games. While it’s an improvement to have two PlayStation Plus Premium titles instead of just one, it’s still a pretty short list.
