MOVIE NEWS – Ryan Hurst reminded fans what he might have looked like as the lead of Prime Video’s God of War series by sharing a photo of himself in Kratos makeup, just as new details emerged about Season 2’s time jump.

Ryan Hurst was announced as Kratos in January and reportedly added around 40 pounds of muscle while preparing for the part. According to 3DJuegos, however, he tore his bicep during an action scene, and his recovery is expected to take more than a year. Amazon and Sony are therefore looking for a replacement, with Dave Bautista currently regarded as the leading candidate, although his involvement has not been officially confirmed.

Hurst shared an Instagram Story showing himself in Kratos makeup, underlining how close he came to bringing the Spartan warrior to life. The image quickly convinced many fans that he could have been an ideal choice for the role. Production on the series is currently on hold, but the plan is reportedly to shoot two seasons together and complete filming by April 2027.

Season 2 is already looking for older versions of Atreus and Thrud

According to MP1ST, the second season may feature a significant time jump. Casting is now seeking actors aged 14 to 17 for Atreus and Thrud, while the first season looked for children between the ages of 9 and 12. That shift suggests the story will move forward noticeably and bring back substantially older versions of the two young characters.

The change could also mean that Callum Vinson and Isla Austin will play Atreus and Thrud only in the early episodes before new performers take over after the time jump. The studio has not yet confirmed either the leap forward or the recasting of Kratos, so the coming months should reveal who will lead the series after Hurst’s departure.
