The first network test for The Duskbloods opened with severe login problems, leaving many players stuck at the main menu. FromSoftware apologized within hours and ended the planned four-hour session early.
The Duskbloods did not begin its public trial the way fans of one of Nintendo Switch 2’s most anticipated exclusives had hoped. During the first Network Test, scheduled for August 21 from noon to 4 p.m. in Spain, large numbers of participants reported that they could not connect to the servers and were unable to move beyond the main menu.
FromSoftware initially said it was investigating the login failures, but the service could not be stabilized while the session was running. Less than two hours after the test began, the studio announced its cancellation, apologized to participants and said it would review both the servers and the remaining test schedule.
The Remaining Duskbloods Tests Could Still Recover the Launch
The current plan includes additional four-hour sessions on August 22 from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. and again from 8 p.m. to midnight, on August 23 from noon to 4 p.m., and finally on August 24 from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m., all listed in Spanish time. The studio may adjust that timetable depending on its investigation, so participants should monitor official updates before trying again.
Despite the technical failure, the early impressions based on actual gameplay have generally been encouraging. The Duskbloods brings FromSoftware’s familiar dark atmosphere and demanding combat into a competitive multiplayer setting, making a reliable online infrastructure especially important before release.
The Duskbloods is still expected to launch for Nintendo Switch 2 sometime in 2026. The failed first test is an uncomfortable warning, but finding this kind of server problem before launch is precisely why large-scale network trials are held.
