Omega Phenex Commenced Project Six: Open Beta for Mech Combat [VIDEO]

Surume Koubou has announced that the playable beta will run for quite a while, and the game very clearly brings something else to mind.

Drawing inspiration from titles such as Armored Core: For Answer, Omega Phenex delivers an exhilarating sense of speed and the thrill of free flight across enormous environments. Piloting the hyper-mobile mech known as Icarus, players can seamlessly shift from skimming across the ocean surface to blasting through the clouds while diving into high-risk battles against massive enemy forces and imposing boss enemies. During missions, players are free to swap between a third-person view and a cockpit view at will.

The beta version introduces the story mode. Built around the protagonist known by the callsign Seeker, the story unfolds in Atlantis, an uncharted land filled with mysterious autonomous weapons. The world is brought to life through professionally recorded voice acting, dynamic pre-mission briefings, radio chatter during combat, and 3DCG-animated scenes. The game also features a huge range of parts that combine realistic textures with heroic proportions. Players can customize the head, core, arms, and legs, alter the color scheme, and fine-tune performance. By completing missions and expanding the shop inventory, it becomes possible to build a machine that perfectly matches both your aesthetic preferences and your combat style.

The developers fully support livestreaming, video creation, and monetization of the open beta. They ask creators to include the game’s Steam link and the hashtag #OmegaPhenex in their descriptions. Beta save data, however, will not carry over to the full release.

The open beta for Omega Phenex Commenced Project Six is already live on Steam and will run until sometime in June, although the exact end date has not yet been specified. The full game is due out on PC at some point in 2027. The beta includes the first five missions of the game. And it is worth saying that Armored Core is not the only comparison that comes to mind here. There is also a little bit of Omega Boost in it, even if that one was a PS1 rail shooter with no customization from the developers behind Gran Turismo.
