Dungeons & Dragons (D&D for short) has grown in popularity thanks to the success of Baldur’s Gate 3, and Hasbro‘s subsidiary Wizards of the Coast is looking to capitalise on this with a game from Invoke Studios.

Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons is an original third-person, single-player, action-adventure game. Set in a dark fantasy open world inspired by Dungeons & Dragons, Warlock sees players use magic creatively across systemic combat and exploration. The game, developed by Invoke Studios, places players in the role of Kaatri, a veteran weapons master who makes a pact to wield otherworldly magic against dark powers. Kaatri is played by the award-winning Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica, Lucifer). Warlock empowers players to use magic to overcome a wide range of challenges. During exploration, each spell unlocks new paths and possibilities in a beautiful yet unsettling world. When facing enemies, magic and melee combine to create a combat experience that is both tactical and visceral.

The Warlock gameplay reveal gives players an in-depth look at the upcoming game, beginning with the introduction of a brand-new character: Tasha. Played by Maggie Robertson, Tasha acts as Kaatri’s patron and source of power. Tasha teaches Kaatri to sense Raw Magic, a hidden power throughout Darkon that enables her to expand and transform her magical abilities. The reveal then brings Warlock’s core promise to life by showing how magic enables players to read, reshape and ultimately master the world around them. Kaatri transforms the environment, enemy positioning and even the weather into tactical opportunities, combining spells before capitalising on them with her skill as a seasoned weapons master. The result is a fluid, systems-driven approach to exploration and combat where observation and experimentation can reveal new paths, generate unexpected solutions, and produce spectacular combinations.

Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons is set to be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC sometime next year.
