Microsoft can no longer hide the fact that this Holiday season, aside from the Xbox Series X, there will be another, weaker next-gen Xbox in the stores.

First, the following three images showed up on Twitter.

The packaging looks weak, but let’s not forget that Sony’s DualShock 4 packaging also looks forgettable. In the top left corner, we only see the Xbox logo for a good reason, and in the bottom left, we see the colour (which in our case is Robot White); the controller heavily resembles the Xbox One controller, but sometimes, evolution is better than a revolution.

The second picture includes the features, and we’re skipping it to take a look at the third one. iOS, Android, Windows 10, Xbox One (not listing all the models, huh?), and Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S! That’s it: Microsoft’s plans were effectively confirmed via the packaging, so we should highly expect the Redmond-based company to reveal this console (which we mentioned plenty of times as Lockhart) throughout its August broadcast.

It even has a video blow.

And it’s not a fake: The Verge also showed a few images of the next-gen Microsoft controller (using the name of the company makes sense, as it is openly said to be working elsewhere, too). According to previous rumours, the Xbox Series S will be the cheaper next-gen Microsoft console with 7.5 GB of usable RAM, the same CPU as in the Xbox Series X (AMD Ryzen Zen 2-based), and about 4 TFLOPS of GPU performance (which is 0.2 less than what the PlayStation 4 Pro can pull off). Even Eurogamer and VentureBeat talked about these details, adding that Microsoft will be announcing it this month.

However, the naming convention could be a bit bothersome: the letter S tends to be used by many Japanese games as the highest rating (then again, the X tends to be above it…), so someone with no information about the consoles could think the S version of the next-gen Xbox could be the better console. Microsoft could be causing some confusion…
