A New State Of Play In September, Horizon Forbidden West Also Delayed?

More State of Play rumours have emerged from the Sony camp, and one of them we heard earlier this year…

Let’s start with Horizon Forbidden West. Previously, we wrote that this game is likely getting pushed back to 2022, and Sony’s official stance (which also showed up in the news before) at the moment is that even they aren’t sure whether Aloy’s Western adventure can drop this Holiday season on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 or not.

VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb said on Giant Bomb’s GrubbSnax regarding Guerrilla Games’ title that the official announcement of the delay would occur during a State of Play broadcast in September Sony will also reveal the release slate for the autumn and winter period. (The delay was corroborated by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who didn’t mention the State of Play but brought up that the delay is already a done deal.)

“For Horizon [Forbidden West], we think we are on track to release this holiday season. But that isn’t quite certain yet, and we’re working as hard as we can to confirm that to you as soon as we can,” Hermen Hulst, the head of PlayStation Studios (who, incidentally, previously helmed Guerrilla Games…) said in June.

At the same time, he confirmed that Sony Interactive Entertainment Santa Monica Studio’s God of War sequel (presumably called God of War Ragnarok) was delayed to 2022. This game isn’t alone: even Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo 7 also got kicked out of 2021, and both games will be on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. But even outside Sony, we can list other examples: Hogwarts Legacy, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum…

Keep in mind that none of this is official yet at the moment, but Aloy’s delay wouldn’t be surprising.
