Once again, PlayStation console owners can expect extra playtime.
Activision Blizzard has been quiet about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, but there have been rumours of this instalment being available to try out before release. For example, there was an Amazon listing that put August as the beta’s window, but now, details from another source have come out that seem a lot more tepid.
Ralph Valve seems reliable on Call of Duty and wrote about the beta dates for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II the other day. Don’t get your hopes up for the August date. It is too early. According to the leak, those with a PlayStation 4 and/or PlayStation 5 will again have a leg up. Those who pre-order the game will be able to play it on September 15 and 16, but the open beta will not be missed either: it will run from September 17 to 19.
The second weekend will offer a cross-play beta, so fans playing on PC, Xbox Series and Xbox One can also take the test drive. Pre-orderers will be the first to get an early start, with September 22 and 23 as the two target days. The open beta, where all five platforms can play without pre-ordering, will run from September 24 to 26, according to the leak. According to Ralph Valve, there will also be something around Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II in August. It will feature new gameplay from Activision Blizzard and Infinity Ward, and there could be a few surprises. Here, we might have to think about the long-rumoured sandbox mode, DMZ.
Of course, all this is not yet official, but as the person in question is said to be knowledgeable on the subject, it might be worth giving it some serious thought. What is fixed, however, is the game’s release date: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will arrive on October 28 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (not just Battle.net, but Steam too!), PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
