Sony introduced a new accessory to the PlayStation 4, which will allow us to play games without using a television nearby, in case it gets occupied by others. This is a portable projector, which can project in up to a 120″ size. The projector will have Auto and Free Focus modes, a 720×1920 resolution and a 32 lumen brightness. We can connect this laser projector via a HDMI/HML port, and it can stream video from any device nearby via WIFI. Sound can be via either its internal speaker, a plugged in headset or an external speaker. The weakest link is probably going to be its battery: it’s only 3000 mAh, with a maximum life of only two hours, which isn’t really that much in our opinion…
Price, release date? Sony didn’t say a single word about these, but our guess is that they will announce this on the Tokyo Game Show later this year, but the release is rumoured to be in October. After PlayStation 1 with a connectable screen, we will now be able to play PS4 with a projector – if it gets good price (or a better battery), we might consider getting one for ourselves later on.
