Star Wars Battlefront‘s PlayStation 4-bundle was suspicious already: the package contained a code for four bonus games. One of them is the SNES Super Star Wars game, but we already wrote about that. The other three games are suspicious: these are Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter and Star Wars Racer: Revenge. But wait, these are PlayStation 2 games – hello, that is a stealth move on your part, Sony!
The games have the start and select buttons remapped to the DualShock 4’s touchpad due to lacking both buttons, plus all of them show a PlayStation 2 logo upon launch. That looks like emulation to us. Sony’s quick statement says that they are working on utilizing PS2 emulation technology to bring PS2 games forward to the current generation.
DigitalFoundry immediately grabbed their chance to compare the PS2 original with the emulated PS2 version on the PS4.
They think the resolution is around 1292×896, which is not that shabby. In case you still have your PS2 game library, you can utilize them again soon!
