Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5: Hey, another massive patch!

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5‘s situation is somewhat ridiculous: there’re not even 5 gigabytes of data on Blu-ray, while there was an almost 8 GB patch on day 1, downloading the rest of the game with it. The game itself was f… freaking awful. Now, Robomodo put together another patch for the latest THPS installment, and it’s already available for the PlayStation 4.

The 1.04 patch is 7.8 GB in size. That makes it two patches bigger than the base game, making you download 16 gigabytes to play the game. Brilliant. Let’s look at the patch notes.

Content

  •    Additional levels have been added (Underground, Wild West)
  •    Additional character campaigns have been added (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Tyler the Creator)

  •    Grinds were updated in several of the levels

Networking

  •    The User Generated Content Rating System has been updated
  •    Added Likes/Dislikes to the User Generated Levels
  •    New Challenge UI Flow for matching during FreeSkate has been added
  •    Leaderboard functionality was updated
  •    Several multiplayer modes have been added and updated
  •    Modes added include “Daily Grind,” “Skate Hoarding” and “Manual Mayhem”

UI

  •    More options for user preference have been added including:
  •    Double tapping grind button to activate slam
  •    Opt in/out of Global Voice Chat
  •    Several UI audio effects have been added
  •    Misc – minor UI fixes and improvements have been made

It looks like they changed the slam from a single Triangle push to a double tap: this wouldn’t break our combos anymore that often. It’s respectable to see Robomodo still trying… but we believe it’s a little too late by now.
