H1Z1 divides like a cell!

H1Z1‘s console version will not launch as originally planned: Daybreak decided to split the game into two. They believe that many players only played either the Survival or the Battle Royal game modes on the Early Access version on PC. This is the main reason Daybreak thought H1Z1 should be split in half.

The open-world zombie survival game where scavenging, crafting and base building will be at utmost importance is now called H1Z1: Just Survive. The fast-paced shooter comprised of multiple, fight-to-the-death game modes, including Battle Royale, will be called H1Z1: King of the Kill.

Daybreak also announced that H1Z1: KotK will be pulled out of Steam’s Early Access on PC and also get it out on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this summer. Just Survive will also get the same fate at a later, undisclosed date – more details will be announced in the future.

The split will happen officially on February 17 although this only affects PC players. It looks like Just Survive is a bigger task than Daybreak have thought.
