Electronic Arts vs. Ubisoft: the argument is over

In late January and early February, Electronic Arts tried to do something interesting behind the scenes. This event finished recently. Electronic Arts filed a trademark application for the title Ghost. We have to add that it is related to one of their developer teams, Ghost Games – they made the two recent Need For Speed titles. However, Ubisoft, a publisher with a long-time franchise called Ghost Recon. The see-saw began between the two companies.

According to Ubisoft, there would be confusion between the dev team’s name and the French company’s tactical shooter. They immediately filed a notice of opposition against EA. The argument between the two parties is pretty much pointless: the usage of the word Ghost is basically the two ends of the world. No wonder Electronic Arts decided to withdrawn their application.

We don’t know if this withdrawal is going to have an effect on Ghost Games. It’d be ridiculous to rename them, so let’s hope the problems between EA and Ubi are over.

If they will still keep fighting over the Ghost name, that would be something else, though.
