Steam Under DDoS Attacks – Will It Continue Today?

If you planned to deal with Christmas shopping yesterday, you might have found that Valve‘s network was unavailable for a long time.

Until about 11 AM Pacific yesterday, Phantom Squad’s and PoodleCorp’s DDoS attacks made Steam inaccessible for not just minutes, but for about 3-4 hours, making Gabe Newell’s company potentially lose a tonne of cash in the process.

On Twitter, multiple Phantom Squad and PoodleCorp-related accounts (some already suspended) have taken responsibility for the outage. They have attacked multiple sites and services in the previous year, and there’s a chance that Xbox Live and PlayStation Network will be in the crosshairs during Christmas, which happened two years ago as well.

At least they should take a break from this malicious event at the end of the year, but they don’t seem to heed our word. In case PSN doesn’t work for you later today, you might know the reason why it happens…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
