Gran Turismo Is Twenty Years Old! [VIDEO]

Polyphony Digital‘s franchise is celebrating.

December 23, 1997. Polys Entertainment’s (that’s how the team was called back then!) PlayStation-exclusive game, which was helped by Cyberhead during development, launches in Japan. Not a lot would have thought back then that on the Sony side, the words Gran Turismo would still sound exciting two decades later!

However, that’s the situation. Kazunori Yamauchi (series creator, head of Polyphony) and Shuhei Yoshida (president of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios) reminisce the past, talking about how the game’s development fared. There are English subtitles, so don’t worry if you don’t know Japanese.

The timing is intentional: the next Gran Turismo game, Gran Turismo Sport, is going to launch on October 17 (October 18 in Europe) on PlayStation 4 with PlayStation VR-support!

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
