Middle-earth: Shadows of War – Welcome to Mordor! [VIDEO]

Here are three key Middle Earth scenarios, and we compare their cinematic version with that of the game.

Middle-earth: Shadows of War, the new game of Monolith invites us to lead an army that faces Sauron in his conquest of Middle-earth. Moreover, although it may not be exactly the Middle Earth that Tolkien imagined, it does have certain important elements here and there. Despite the big differences, this new game shares important locations also with the films of The Lord of the Rings directed by Peter Jackson.

We chose three of these key points from the map of Mordor, where the shadows reigns, remembering why they are important to the passionate literary saga, movie fans, and Shadow of War players.

Cirith Ungol

Located in the western mountains of Mordor this fortress is known especially for the tower that guards the narrow passage of a gorge, that ends in a pronounced throat that as much in the novels as in the films served as lodging to Shelab. To this tower must come the good Samwise Gamgee to rescue Frodo, and in the game, we can see the full extent of the fort that extends through the Morgul Valley.

Gorgoroth

This huge plateau is one of the most important extensions of Mordor. Surrounded by mountains, there is Mount of Fate, where the Ring of Power was forged, and the fortress of Barad-dûr, the so-called Dark Tower. This long stretch of land was the scene of the great battle with which the War of the Last Alliance ends, in which Isildur defeats Sauron, at least momentarily. In the game, this area will have a more interesting surface, strewn with vertiginous canyons and lava rivers.

Minas Morgul

Minas Morgul is the residence of The Warlock King, Lord of the Nazgul, Sauron’s right hand, responsible for recovering the One Ring and leader of the Dark Lord’s troops at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. In the movies, this spectacular, ghostly, citadel stars in some scenes, but Shadow War players will spend a lot more time in it. Although perhaps they do not recognize it since they will visit it in a moment before it fell outside taken by the Warlock King and fell for the second time in the power of Sauron.
