God Of War’s Director Would Work On A New IP! [VIDEO]

Cory Barlog would like to start something new.

God of War‘s reviews have been available for a few days, and seeing how both Metacritic and Opencritic has the PlayStation 4-exclusive game with a 95 out 100 average (!) score, we can safely say that it’s an impressive title.

Ralph Panebianco interviewed Cory Barlog, the director of God of War, in his car. He said the following: „I have this ritual of being alone when the reviews go up. I [tried to do my own reaction video]. It was a weird, very emotional moment. More emotional than I expected to be honest. It caught me way off guard. I recorded about a 10-minute video, and I think about 8 minutes of that I was crying. I do feel like it was the completion of a very long, very difficult five years, and it was a little bit of vindication, I guess.”

Although Panebianco drove Barlog to George Miller (the creator of Mad Max; Barlog worked on an early version of the 2015 Mad Max game!), there’s no chance of him working on something related to Miller’s IP. „I really would love to create something of my own next. Something that really, truly, 100 percent is coming from my original vision. That would be awesome. But we have to see if I can convince Sony on that one.”

Sony has been patient with its exclusives (which, in turn, get good reviews – last year, Horizon: Zero Dawn was successful) – why would they reject Barlog’s proposal?
