Fumito Ueda’s Next Game Is Underway; It Won’t Be A Sequel!

ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, The Last Guardian – Ueda is already working on his fourth major game.

Famitsu’s latest issue has an interview with Ueda, and via these tidbits, we learned that genDesign, Ueda’s developer team, is currently testing several ideas to see if they are interesting or not. The prototyping is financially supported by the Kowloon Nights, a game fund based in Hong Kong. They first create the core parts, which then are used to create a „stable product,” which is a challenge for them at the moment.

„What we’re making now doesn’t feel like an indie game. We’re ultimately aiming for something on the scale of Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian. If larger-scale development becomes of interest to us, then I think we will significantly expand our development system and take it to a large-scale development team to make it a big game, which will be a completely new title, not a sequel,” Ueda said.

We previously published this image below. It might be from their new project…

Anikó, our news editor and communication manager, is more interested in the business side of the gaming industry. She worked at banks, and she has a vast knowledge of business life. Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
