Call Of Duty: Black Ops IIII Will Get A Huge Patch On Day One!

It will be ridiculously big, and that’s why a UK game store chain is defending against this move.

Those who’d buy Treyarch’s game physically will be disappointed. They will have to download a day-one patch, which will be roughly 50 gigabytes. FIFTY GIGABYTES. That’s basically a dual-layer Blu-ray disc, making the physical release absolutely useless… and, as a comparison, the digital download will be fifty-five gigabytes. No matter how we look at it, it’s a ridiculous situation. Not everyone has a gigabit Internet connection!

Activision revealed further information: „Blackout is fully playable once installation is about 30 per cent complete (approximately 16-20 GB). For an optimised download experience, players should have 112 GB of free hard drive space – note that this is not the size of the download, it is the amount of space required to complete the installation process. The final installation footprint will be approximately 55 GB. To play Blackout before the full installation is complete, select “Update to Latest Version” when the prompt appears.” Yes, they actually wrote „optimised download experience.” The games are getting bigger and bigger.

In the United Kingdom, GAME, one of the major game retail stores, will defend against the major download: they received permission from Activision Blizzard to sell Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII from October 11, 6 PM BST, to allow players to start their downloads overnight.

Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII will launch on October 12 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
