Several Developers Leave DICE!

The Swedish team has been abandoned for several reasons.

LinkedIn displays that no less than 40, but in reality, possibly even more people have left DICE in the past year for two reasons: local studios proved to be more competitive, and Star Wars: Battlefront II is also mentioned – the first, loot box version has flopped, and Electronic Arts has forced the team to put together a new version quickly, which isn’t motivational. There are departing devs who worked at DICE for over a decade, too!

The four rival companies? They are Epic Games, Ubisoft, King, Paradox Interactive – the first two opened offices in Stockholm, King has also expanded their Swedish presence, and Paradox is a Swedish company. Thirteen ex-DICE employees moved to Ubisoft, while eight of them joined Paradox.

DICE hasn’t confirmed the rumour, but it seems that the studio that employs over 400 people, has been poorly affected from the Star Wars: Battlefront II flop, and perhaps it could be the reason why there might be no Battlefront III, as Titanfall devs Respawn plan to launch a Star Wars game next autumn…

Anikó, our news editor and communication manager, is more interested in the business side of the gaming industry. She worked at banks, and she has a vast knowledge of business life. Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
