Would Skybound Continue Telltale’s The Walking Dead Legacy?

Or is The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman’s company planning to make new games?

On Twitter, the official account of The Walking Dead, asked an interesting question: „Super hypothetical question, The Walking Dead family – what kind of The Walking Dead video game would you love to see get made? Asking for a friend…” If you scroll down a bit in the responses, you’ll quickly find that friend, as a certain Skybound Games, the team that took over The Walking Dead: The Final Season’s development from Telltale for the last two episodes. (The first one is already out and tested. The finale is coming on March 26.) „We’re looking for suggestions BEYOND existing games/series!”, Skybound wrote.

However, the problem is that those who tried to make a The Walking Dead game outside Telltale has frankly paid a price for it. The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct (2013, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Nintendo Wii U; it served as a prequel to the TV-series), which was a terrible game, was developed by Terminal Reality, who went bankrupt a few months later! Last November’s The Walking Dead on PC, which was developed by Overkill (Payday!), and published by Starbreeze, pushed the publisher into financial shambles, and they had to delay the console versions set to arrive in February indefinitely!

So even though Skybound would have some „home advantage” with the license (after all, it’s Kirkman’s company…), it might be a risky move to make a new game…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
