Shawn Layden, the American head of Sony Interactive Entertainment, told GameInformer that there will be „dramatic” changes for the PlayStation VR.
„[…If] you look at [the] PlayStation VR right now, none of us are going to be able to imagine what it will look like 10 years from now, but the change will be that dramatic. You can’t get to 5.0 until you do 1.0. It’s just the nature of the thing,” Layden said. We can pick up two thoughts from this comment.
First off, he effectively confirmed that the PlayStation VR (which sold over three million units) will get a new version eventually, which is also underlined by the several patents that Sony has trademarked in the past months. Also, the Sony exec predicts major changes for the virtual reality headset, saying that its growth will be comparable to smartphones’.
