God Of War Could Have Been Titled Something Else!

Cory Barlog and David Jaffe, two key creators behind one of the essential exclusive Sony franchises, revealed some behind-the-scenes stories about God of War.

Barlog, who was the director of last April’s PlayStation 4-exclusive God of War, laughed on Twitter about how Steven Spielberg, the producer for Back to the Future, was asked by the bigwigs to rename the movie to… and now we have to take a breath… Space Man from Pluto. Barlog lost it (so did we…), but then, he talked about God of War.

He joked that God of War could have been named „Angry Man from Ancient Greece.” (The other option, „Angry Man from War Nation of Sparta,” is also good…) Here, David Jaffe, the director of the first God of War on the PS2 in 2005, stepped in and responded: „ACTUALLY it was originally between 3 titles: GOD OF WAR, DARK ODYSSEY, and AT THE HANDS OF THE GODS. We could not get everyone on the same page so all 3 went into a hat and we drew at random and agreed that whichever we drew would be the title. THANK ZEUS ‘GOD OF WAR’ came up! :)”

We agree with Jaffe. We’re lucky they drew God of War! Dark Odyssey could have worked as a title, but At The Hand of Gods… eh… let’s not go any further.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
