Metro Exodus: Deep Silver and Epic Announce Sales Rates, But Where are the Numbers?

It is surprising to announce this information so that if it is not backed up by numbers, we can accept it with reservations.

During its Game Developers Conference keynote, Epic Games said that Metro Exodus, exclusive to Epic Games Store on PC, sold 2.5 times more than Metro: Last Light in the same period. We don’t know if the pre-orderers (including those who got Steam keys before the exclusivity announcement…) were included or not. Deep Silver didn’t reveal any data either, but in the United States, it sold more than Metro 2033 did in its lifetime. At least we know about the Metro: Redux collection that it sold 1.5 million copies…

What’s the problem with it? Well, aside from not knowing any numbers at all, it’s obvious that if a highly-anticipated game is sold on only one store, it will sell a lot, especially how the gaming industry continues to grow over the years, rendering such a comparison absolutely useless – comparing Exodus to the original (?!) Last Light is dumb. Back then, Metro wasn’t as mainstream as it has become by the launch of Exodus. This is nothing more than PR-talk… so: citation needed.

Can you remember? Dmitry Glukhovsky, the writer of the Metro books, previously begged us to not betray him after Metro: Exodus has moved to the Epic Games Store on PC!

In case you haven’t done so yet, you can read our review of Metro: Exodus here.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
