Microids also announced a Collector’s Edition as well for the game, which is a bold move – the Blacksad comics aren’t known around our region in Eastern Europe…
So, the Collector’s Edition is a bit surprising – it will contain the game in physical format, as well an art book, and a resin Blacksad figure, all put into a box that looks relaxing and intriguing at the same time. Blacksad, which was created by Juan Díaz Canales (writer) és Juanjo Guarnido (artist), a Spanish duo, is aimed at the French (!) market, meaning it could sell pretty well in Western Europe, but Pendulo Studios’ and YS Interactive’s title still seems to be an exciting project…
„The 50s, New York City: Joe Dunn, owner of a boxing club, is found dead. Meanwhile, rising star Bobby Yale, due to take to the ring for the most important fight of his career, has mysteriously disappeared. Sonia Dunn, Joe’s daughter, takes over the gym and must deal with its financial woes. She hires private detective John Blacksad to investigate Yale’s disappearance.
With its anthropomorphic characters and its incredible 1950s feel, Blacksad: Under the Skin delivers all the eerily dark adventure of a detective novel, just like the eponymous comic book series. While embodying detective John Blacksad, players will have to conduct this adventure in their own way. Depending on their decisions, players will influence the relationships between Blacksad and the other characters as well as the very end of the investigation,” Microids’ press release says. Anthropomorphic means the characters in the game (or, to be exact, in the entire Blacksad universe) are all animals but with human capabilities. (Which is probably why the franchise got off to a successful start almost two decades ago.)
Blacksad: Under the Skin also got a story trailer, keeping us hooked about the game, as it could be one of the sleeper hits of the autumn. Autumn indeed, as Microids plans to launch it on September 26 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It will include English, French, and Spanish voice-overs, and English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Dutch subtitles. (The French and Spanish dub make sense…)
