Tekken 7: Season 3 Is Coming; Many People Fell For A Joke [VIDEO]

At EVO 2019, Bandai Namco announced the new characters, but the fighting game world championship’s organizers fooled everyone.

Out of Season Pass 3, two out of four characters have been confirmed so far – they are Zafina and Leroy Smith. There will be two more, as well as a new stage and a new feature. (The third character and the new feature is set to launch this winter, followed by the rest next Spring.) They will be revealed at a later date. Meanwhile, free updates are also set to arrive: in September, we’ll get new moves, our statistics can be displayed, and the user interface will be updated. In the winter, we’ll get the Practice mode expanded functions wise, and there will also be My Replay & Tips – probably we get to learn from our mistakes made during the matches.

Multiple publications, including GameInformer, have fallen for a possibility of Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid’s iconic character, showing up in Tekken 7 as a guest from Konami, and there’s a picture of his alleged tease as well from Twitter.

While on paper, it seems plausible to have him as a guest character (as Tekken 7 also has Noctis from Final Fantasy XV or Negan from The Walking Dead series), Snake’s appearance was nothing more than a prank by the EVO organizers – they had to explain it on Twitter: „Just to clear things up, the Snake cameo video that we showed during Tekken finals was our idea of a little joke. It was not intended to imply a character reveal and was done on our own, without consulting Bandai Namco. Sorry for any confusion!”

So Tekken 7, which first launched in Japanese arcades in 2015 (followed by an updated version in 2016 and a second update in 2019), then on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2017, is not going to include Snake, unless Katsuhiro Harada, the father of Tekken, does something about it. (Knowing him, he will – also, Snake has been in Super Smash Bros. games, too.)
