Did The PlayStation 5’s Price and Release Date Get Leaked?

Also, the PlayStation 5 console’s dev kit had a photo taken of it…

Progamingshop, an online retailer in Slovakia, has listed the PlayStation 5 with some exact information. (The photos are not official, though – maybe the controller, which is not officially called DualShock 5 yet, could be interesting.) They claim that the PlayStation 5 will cost 500 euros (which is about 557 US dollars), which seems to be a realistic price range for the next-gen Sony console. The US price might be 500 USD, but since there’s the trade war between the US and China, it might cost more than that.

The release date, according to the site, is December 4, 2020. That is a Friday. We believe it is a legit release date, as even though the PlayStation 2 did not come out on a Friday in the US (while it DID in Europe), since then, each desktop PlayStation consoles debuted on a Friday in both regions. December 4 falls right into the 2020 Holiday season, too. However, these are unconfirmed!

Let’s move onto the dev kit of the PlayStation 5. Its „first prototype” was shared on YouTube by ZoneofTech, and he probably made someone get fired by Sony, as he also revealed that the photo was taken on October 10. The dev kit looks exactly what Let’s Go Digital shared when they found a patent (we wrote about it, too) – it looks weird, and, frankly, it doesn’t look pleasant. It has a few buttons on its front (power/standby, reset, eject, system and network init), as well as a few USB ports. Let’s hope the final version of the PlayStation 5 will look better.

We wonder how much the Xbox Project Scarlett, Microsoft’s next-gen console will cost if the PlayStation 5 rumour is true?
