Capcom had doubts about the success of making a remake of Resident Evil 2 [VIDEO]

The Capcom title, Resident Evil 2 remake was released for PS4, Xbox One and PC and poses a new instalment in the coming months.

Although hard to believe, it has been a year since the new version of Resident Evil 2 came into our hands. The remake managed to recreate the classic in a totally innovative way but without losing the essence of the original, which enchanted criticism and the game was a financial success.

But, the new version of the saga had been hovering among Capcom‘s ideas long before it came true until they finally decided to launch it on the market. According to the official PlayStation blog, the producer, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, revealed that the idea of remaking Resident Evil 2 had been raised several times but was never considered as a good option until 2015 when the initial development of the game was announced with the now-famous video “We Do It”.

Hirabayashi confessed that it was ” a difficult proposal to make a great re-release of this classic” and therefore they never took it off. “Finally, after a few years, we considered that the time was right and we talked about redoing RE2 again,” says Hirabayashi.

The first game in the series was remade in 2002 for GameCube and was later remastered for current systems. The third instalment of the saga will receive its own remake in April of this year, but if you have not yet experienced the 2 you can enjoy it on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
