CD Projekt RED: No Intention To Delay Cyberpunk 2077 Again

The Poles want to release their next game,  Cyberpunk 2077 in September. (Or, at least its single-player portion.)

Wasteland 3, The Last of Us Part II, Marvel’s Iron Man VR – these three games have been delayed recently, and only Wasteland 3 has a new, concrete release date (late August). Adam Kiciński, the CEO of CD Projekt RED, published a statement, in which he talked about firmly sticking by the September launch window, while they also released their 2019 fiscal year report.

„Since mid-March, we have been working from home while ensuring continuity of all our operations. We’ve been operating in this mode for over three weeks and to-date results confirm that we can carry on with all our operations without major disruptions. Our goals haven’t changed; first and foremost, we intend to release Cyberpunk 2077 in September. We feel motivated and have the necessary tools at our disposal to meet this goal. We also believe that our longstanding strategy of avoiding debt and accumulating cash reserves makes us well prepared to meet any hardships which may be in store during these troubled times,” Kiciński writes.

We believe in them – The Witcher 3 is now at 28 million sales, and the PC is the leading platform, confirming that even without DRM, you can have a game sell nicely, and it’s a nice cheeky message aimed at the developers and publishers that continue to force Denuvo down our throats. The company’s sales revenue has a 44% year-on-year increase compared to the previous fiscal year (April 1, 2018 – March 31, 2019). The Witcher’s Netflix series, as well as The Witcher 3’s Nintendo Switch port, mattered this much. GWENT’s mobile release and increased revenue also helped, plus GOG.com’s net profit saw a 60% increase, too.

So CD Projekt RED looks confident to tackle upcoming challenges. We hope they will provide us with plenty of joyful moments.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
