Star Wars: Squadrons – Advantages And Disadvantages Of VR

The director of this new action game delves into the differences between the two types of experience.

Star Wars: Squadrons will be a game that tries to appeal to the masses and is intended to be enjoyed with and without virtual reality, but concerning 3D let’s delve a little deeper into the work of EA Motive and the differences between playing with and without VR technology. The director of this new space action title did not hesitate for a second to clarify our doubts.

“I would say it is a different perspective for the same experience. It is not like there is the ‘real game’ and virtual reality is just something that is on the sidelines or the other way around,” Ian Frazier told 3DJuegos.

” The full game is exactly the same, whether it’s on the traditional screen or VR. The obvious advantage of virtual reality is that it’s more immersive, you feel more there.”

Of course, he adds, they have also sought immersion without this technology, “but virtual reality is hard to beat in that regard.”

“As for 2D, this can be advantageous, especially from a competitive perspective, because your focus is better because you have a screen with a frame and, of necessity, everything is concentrated on that screen, so in terms of focus, there is an advantage But when it comes to content, experience, story, and everything the game is essentially about, ” Frazier continues,” it’s exactly the same game, whether in VR or 2D. “

Of course, one would imagine some differences in graphics. Frazier said that on PC, that depends on the hardware of each player, while on the console, the appearance will be essentially the same. “It depends on the hardware, even between virtual reality glasses, they have different resolutions, so some will offer a better display than others. The consoles look more or less the same, there is no significant difference in how they look, but in the end, it all depends on the hardware.”

Electronic Arts announced Star Wars: Squadrons last week. The game will have a campaign and multiplayer and will debut on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on October 2.
