After its first TV commercial, Sony once again talks about DualSense: it has detailed the operation of its haptic, special vibration.
The marketing machine for the next generation of consoles has already begun. Sony has published the first television spot for PS5 and, taking advantage of the situation, has published an extensive post on its official PlayStation blog focusing especially on the peculiarities of the DualSense.
The new PlayStation 5 controller will incorporate haptic vibration and in the publication, developers of the different titles announced for the new generation console of the Japanese company explain some of the specific uses that this functionality has and how it affects when playing. From jammed pistols to feel where the bullets are coming from.
Among the examples, Brian Horton, creative director of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, says that “when you hold down the square button to launch a Poison Strike, you feel the crackle of Spider-Man’s bioelectricity, starting on the left side of the controller and ends on the right side on impact. ”
Dinga Bakaba, the producer of Deathloop, the new game from Arkane who recently announced its delay until 2021, also tells details of the influence of vibration when firing: “For example, I especially like the possibility of locking the triggers when the gun is jammed In this way, the player can perceive in his hands what has happened before the animation is played. It is a sensation that physically communicates to him that he must unhook his weapon.”
The long-awaited Horizon Forbidden West will also make use of the haptic vibration of the DualSense, as Mathijs de Jonge from Guerrilla recounts, “The game features new weapons designed to offer a unique feel and gameplay experience when facing robotic or human enemies. The adaptive triggers on the DualSense controller will help us make each weapon feel unique and satisfying. ”
The vibration of the DualSense will help detect bullets or feel the force of impacts.
The Demon’s Souls remake will also justify its development with small details that will be noticeable on the controller. “You can realistically experience the strength of colossal bosses by blocking their attacks at a precise moment. Feel how metals collide when exchanging attacks with your enemies. Thanks to the physical sensation that the command transmits, you will know perfectly if you hit or deflect attacks correctly, allowing you to react more quickly and accurately,” says Gavin Moore of SIE Japan Studios.
So that’s what the developers said about the machine, and it’s all very good, but when will we know how much the PS5 will cost, or when it will come? …
