Assassin’s Creed Infinity is now official: Ubisoft confirms its ambitious future plans for the saga

Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Quebec will work under the same structure seeking to take another leap in IP.

It has not taken long to become official. Ubisoft confirmed a few minutes ago what we were telling you this morning, the future of its most successful franchise is currently going through Assassin’s Creed Infinity, a joint development by Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Quebec that, without exactly quoting these words, will seek to be a platform in constant evolution following in the footsteps of the industry.

“From its origins betting on action and adventure to its evolution as role-playing video games, Assassin’s Creed has shown how the decisions we make now, no matter how big or small they may become, influence its future. After breaking records With Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, we find ourselves in the same position in which the decisions we are making for the franchise will determine its future in the coming years “, begin their statement Nathalie Bouchard, CEO of Ubisoft Quebec and Christophe Derennes, CEO of Ubisoft Montreal, announcing major structural changes in the way the French company’s successful IP is addressed.

These happen, as we told you a few hours ago, to leave the behind and combine the work efforts of both studios in a joint venture, which will be led by Marc-Alexis Côté, founder of Ubisoft Quebec with credits in several launches of the series, in the role of executive producer of the franchise. Côté will be joined by Étienne Allonier, from Ubisoft Montreal, and their respective teams to ensure that Assassin’s Creed continues to exceed the high expectations of fans under a more cohesive approach to its development.

“Rather than keep passing the baton from game to game, we strongly believe this is an opportunity for one of Ubisoft’s most beloved franchises to evolve in a more integrated and collaborative way, less studio-centric and more focused on talent and leadership, no matter where they are within Ubisoft, “added the shared letter on this subject. Likewise, Bouchard and Derennes assure that this new structure will allow the company to guarantee that the diversity and representation within its teams continue to grow and match that of its player base.

There has not been much comment on the exact approach of the entertainment software giant with Assassin’s Creed Infinity, but it does ensure that the goal is to continue evolving with the rest of the video game industry in a time where the pandemic and work from home it has changed everything. The statement does detail who will be in charge of this first project in Quebec and Montreal.

In this sense, the production of Assassin’s Creed Infinity will be directed by Julien Laferrière of Ubisoft Montreal , a veteran of the series since its first installment who reached the rank of producer in the most recent Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Creative bosses are a joint leadership of Jonathan Dumont (Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate) and Clint Hocking (Far Cry 2, Watch Dogs: Legion, etc.)

At the moment we do not have details of when we could begin to see more tangible elements of this new future for the franchise, but you can find more details in a recent report from the Bloomberg agency collected in 3DJuegos, in which it is stated that the company’s objective French to create a massive online platform that evolves over time , with different games that could look and feel different, but always keeping a connection with each other.
