Pokémon Trading Cards are Coming to Smartphones

The Pokémon Trading Card Game is getting an official free-to-play mobile app, TCG Live, that will let players enjoy the epic card for the first time on their smartphones.

TCG Live will launch in Canada first in late 2021 and then will launch globally for PC and Mac further down the line, with cross-platform play being enabled. The game will let you build decks, take part in daily challenges, and even battle against other players online.

There is currently a Pokémon Trading Card Game available such as Pokémon TCG Online app for iPad. In fact the progress from that app will carry forward to this new app seamlessly.

As to how the players will acquire new cards for this app? The game’s website states the following: “Compile an extensive card collection that you can use to build fun and exciting decks. Add new cards by scanning code cards, purchasing in-game booster packs, and participating in daily quests, among others“.

Daily challenges will allow the player to unlock cosmetic avatar options and other customisation options.

Pokémon TCG boss Barry Sams had this to say: “As we look back on 25 wonderful years of Pokémon, we are once again reminded of how the Pokémon Trading Card Game has always been a strong pillar of the franchise and beloved by young and veteran Trainers alike. Pokémon TCG Live will go hand in hand with the tabletop version that fans know and love, and welcomes a new era of digital play where Trainers around the world can play together regardless of their preferred platform.

Let us hope the launch will go smoothly, and players all over the world will be able to play together one of the oldest modern card games.
