It has also been said that The Batman is set on Earth-2 of the DCEU. However, it appears to be unrelated to the other two Batmen, Affleck and Michael Keaton, who appear in the upcoming DCEU film. Read the full synopsis below:

The Batman is an edgy, action-packed thriller that shows Batman in his early years, struggling to balance rage with righteousness as he investigates a disturbing mystery that has terrorised Gotham. Robert Pattinson delivers a raw and intense portrayal of Batman as a disillusioned and desperate vigilante who wakes up to the realisation that the rage that consumes him makes him no better than the ruthless serial killer he is hunting.

Warner Bros. has already debuted two Batman trailers at separate DC FanDome events, but curiously hadn’t released an official synopsis until now. It was previously known that Reeves’ Bat-Man The Movie would feature a younger version of the character, inspired by DC’s Year One comic book history. The synopsis backs that up by depicting a younger Bruce Wayne who is probably still dealing with the death of his parents and is clearly still becoming a crime fighter.

This synopsis presents Pattinson’s Batman in stark contrast to the hardened and jaded version played by Affleck in Zack Snyder’s DCEU films and actually sounds more along the lines of Christopher Nolan. The beginning of Batman, which also depicted the character’s early days as a budding vigilante. Still, Reeves’ bat-man seems to have achieved a sense of bravery unmatched by previous versions. Audiences will know for sure when The Batman hits theaters on March 4, 2022.
