Meet Your New Favourite Action Hero In Reacher Series Trailer [VIDEO]

Reacher is polite, charming and recycles. Plus, no one can take him in a fight

The newly released trailer for Reacher introduces us to the new definitive hero of the Amazon Prime Video series. Based on the popular novels by Lee Child, the drama takes a new look at the character and sends him to a small Georgia town to solve a case.

The ex-military and veteran military police investigator travels like a nomad, without a phone and cut off from everyday life. He is exploring the nation he served for in a bygone era, but his duty haunts him. Fate brings him to Margrave, a small town that has just experienced its first murder in 20 years. Witnesses place Reacher at the scene of the crime and he must prove his innocence.

As he digs deeper into the investigation, he discovers that there is a conspiracy he didn’t count on. Jack Reacher is determined to get to the bottom of it and prove to whoever set him up that he’s messed with the wrong man.

In addition to Child’s saga of novels, we all know the character from Tom Cruise’s performance in Christopher McQuarrie’s Jack Reacher. A few years later he would bring him back to life in the sequel, Never Go Back. He now passes the baton to Alan Ritchson, an American actor known for his roles in Blue Mountain State and Blood Drive, as well as supporting roles in other series with a more international impact, such as Smallville.

Ritchson was not the first choice for the role. As he tells Collider in an interview, the team wanted someone with the same physique as described in the novels – “190 cm and 113 kilos” – something he didn’t have. In his first audition, he did something different from what they had in mind, but the casting directors went back over the tapes and gave him another chance: “The closer I got to the role, the more familiar the Reacher material became to me. I really fell in love. I’ve read all the books. Reacher has a very high bar, I’m very excited to be a part of this.

If the fiction works, he may have a long road ahead of him. The saga is made up of 25 volumes and, to date, has sold more than 60 million copies worldwide. McQuarrie, the director who helmed Cruise’s film version, will serve as producer alongside Don Granger and Scott Sullivan.

Reacher will be available on Amazon Prime Video from 4 February 2022.
