[TGA] Star Trek: Resurgence – Sci-Fi Adventure Game From Former Telltale Developers Has Got A Trailer [VIDEO]

Star Trek: Resurgence will soon hit stores as a narrative video game, offering players an epic story set in 2380.

Star Trek is once again enjoying a golden age in television, with up to five series shortly, so it’s no surprise that the franchise is looking to capitalize on its popularity and now want to make a more significant push into the games industry. Star Trek: Resurgence, an interactive narrative video game developed by Telltale veterans, was unveiled at The Game Awards 2021.

In Star Trek: Resurgence, players take on the roles of two protagonists, First Officer Jara Rydek and Ensign Carter Diaz, who must unravel a sinister mystery involving two civilizations on the brink of war.

“You will interact with new and familiar characters from the Star Trek universe, including Spock…”

“…through a series of dialogue choices and in-game actions that will determine the direction of the story,” they say.

The developers are setting this untold story of the Star Trek universe in 2380, chronologically after the events of The Next Generation, and while the game mechanics will be driven by dialogue and decision-making, Resurgence will give the player moments of phaser action, stealth exploration, shuttlecraft driving and the occasional mini-game, as seen in the first trailer.

If all of this reminds you of a Telltale development, don’t be surprised: its creators, Dramatic Labs, are veterans of the company responsible for The Walking Dead Telltale series of games, and they’re out to show their passion for good storytelling once again. Resurgence will hit stores in Spring 2022, with a confirmed release on PC via the Epic Games Store, and will also arrive on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, S, and Xbox One.
