These Are The 8 Free Games Being Added To Xbox Game Pass In January

Xbox Game Pass revamps its title line-up to welcome 2022 with indie and Triple-A titles

Xbox Game Pass is one of Microsoft’s flagship services, and the company doesn’t hesitate to pamper its users as it celebrates the new year. We already knew that January’s Xbox Live Gold would be accompanied by several indie offerings, but Xbox wants to expand its catalogue even further with both indies and Triple-A adventures, something it achieves by adding eight new titles to suit all tastes.

As rumoured at the time, Xbox confirms the arrival of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition to its service, so we will be able to experience the adventures of Shepard through the company’s application. However, this collection comes with other renowned titles such as Outer Wilds, Embr or Spelunky 2. In addition, Xbox Game Pass also includes The Anacrusis on its launch day and some indie gems that can be enjoyed right now.

What’s new on Xbox Game Pass:

  • Gorogoa (Cloud, Console, and PC) – mostantól elérhető
  • Olija (Cloud, Console, and PC) – mostantól elérhető
  • The Pedestrian (Cloud, Console, and PC) – mostantól elérhető
  • Embr (Cloud, Console, and PC)  – January 6
  • Mass Effect Legendary Edition (Console and PC) – January 6
  • Outer Wilds (Cloud, Console, and PC) – January 6
  • Spelunky 2 (Console and PC)  – January 13
  • The Anacrusis (Game Preview)(Console and PC)  – January 13

As you can see from the list, you can try out indie offerings from Gorogoa, Olija and The Pedestrian from Xbox Game Pass today. As such, we’re giving you a taste of these adventures with the descriptions below.

Gorogoa is a clear example of how the puzzle genre can be reinvented from curious prisms, as this experience invites us to solve puzzles full of imagination and dynamism. In addition, the adventure tells a story through hand-drawn designs, making it a delight for fans of puzzles and distinctive artwork.

We can find daring and unusual acts if we talk about indie games. This is the case of Olija, an adventure with a metroidvania essence where retro style and action come together in artistic ideas that mix Flemish and Japanese cultures. Beyond this, the title is distributed by Devolver Digital, so you can expect large doses of frenzy and challenging platforming.

That’s a far cry from what we see in The Pedestrian, an indie that uses its cute premise to wrack our brains in its puzzle-solving. Here, we have to help the pedestrian monkey of the signage system move around and overcome various levels, forcing us to imagine, think and search for tiny clues in order to move our little character forward.

Xbox Game Pass certainly wants to start the year with a foot in the indie camp, but that doesn’t mean it’s left out other types of adventure games. In this regard, Xbox has already confirmed more than 30 games for 2022 that will be coming to the service on launch day. But if you’re interested in what other video game subscriptions have to offer, don’t forget to check out everything the companies have lined up to entertain us in January.

As usual for the service, Xbox lets us know which games will be leaving Xbox Game Pass in mid-January.

  • Desperados III (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Ghost of a Tale (PC)
  • Kingdom Hearts III (Console)
  • Mount & Blade: Warband (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Pandemic (Console and PC)
  • Yiik: A Postmodern RPG (PC)
